Hello,
Just found out about Gerry yesterday – so sorry. I know you’ll have lots of people who will want to make music in his honour, but I’d love to come and sing if there’s room – I worked with Gerry for a while at Urban Strategies byut had first met him when he played with Rick Fielding and me one night at an open stage.

Hello Linda, Colin and families,
I send my condolences to you all.
Jerry was one of the first musicians that I played with, and the number of gigs we did together in pubs, cafes, busking in the TTC, the Renaissance fair, weddings and so many more are too many to count. Gigs with Jerry were always exciting because he would drive the Irish tunes up to lightening speeds. Some of the first Celtic tunes I learnt were Jerry’s originals, such as Esther’s Delight and the Geriatric Hippie.
To say that he is a huge and important part of my musical life is an understatement, so it is hard to believe that we will never play tunes together again. I will miss Jerry.

Informed via visits ~ phone calls.
My Cousin was very happy, entertaining a musical
Child – I baby sat him spend many summers and
weekends with the Gonnelly Family.
He will be sadly missed but never forgotten.
My condolences’ to all especially My Uncle Tom, Cousin Martin,
His wife Linda and extended family.

Jerry was a truly lovely man and a brilliant player. He was a steady source of encouragement and joy in my musical life. Returning to playing after many years was challenging for me, and Jerry gave me both moral and musical support always. I relied on his good judgment, musical taste and the way, on stage, he was always completely present in the musical moment and always knew what to do in that moment. On the funny side, he would tell me to slow down, as I have a tendency to get carried away in the reels, and then he would deliberately crank them up to break-neck speed just for the thrill of it. We had a lot of fun playing out together. A compliment from him carried weight. Jerry and Alex Sinclair and I were the trio, “Innocent Barstanders”. We have lost a very special person and our friend. It is a deep and painful loss. To Linda and family, you were the light and love of his life and you brought to him a peace, deep happiness and contentment.
With my love and depest condolences. Marguerite
