I think it’s safe to say that we’ve all been able to draw some strength from the messages left here and elsewhere on the blog. This page will remain to be a place to leave messages for Jerry and his family & friends.

    Hi Linda and family!!

We are so sorry to hear about Jerry’s mishap and hospitalization. Jerry and the gang played for our medieval wedding at the Arts and Letter’s Club in May 2005. We see Jerry and the gang often at the ren faire (although not this year) and we hadn’t had a chance to visit their shows this year because I was down east visiting my family.

Jerry is a truly beautiful person (I think if there ever were faries that he has to be half fae *smile*) and we will pray to the gods for a full recovery so that he may once again enjoy family, friends and MUSIC!

Again, all our energy to his quick and full recovery and to the happiness of him and you, his family.

    Hugs and well wishes,

    Brandy (and Geoff!)

    Hi
This is a message from Kingston. Two Roads Home played for the Ban Righ Centre a couple of years ago and then the band stayed on Saturday with our staff on Howe Island. Some of also have been to Toronto to hear Gerry and Two Roads Home and love his energy, his playful stage personality, and his musicianship. Clearly, he loves his music and instruments.

We wish him well and hope for his speedy recovery. We will be thinking of all of you as you keep him company in his healing.

    HI Gerry and Family,

I am so sorry to hear about Gerry’s accident. He is such a great musician and lots of fun to talk to between sets! I am sending much love and healing energy to you Gerry, and much support to your family.

  5. 5 Jane Pelow October 28, 2006 at 5:55 pm

    Dear Gerry and family,
I am Abby’s sister-in-law. We have had the honor of hearing Gerry play many times and we were so sorry to hear about Gerry’s fall. We will continue to pray for his speedy recovery and we will also remember the Sheehy family in our prayers as well. Your request for prayers for someone else speaks so clearly as to who you are. It takes incredibly loving and strong people to reach out to others when you are in need yourself. God bless you all.
    Warm Regards

Jerry, Linda, Colin, Sarah and your families:

On behalf of Bryan and Rick, Chris, and so many of our fans and friends who have e-mailed, phoned and visited this blog, I am sending every ounce of love and healing wishes to all of you. Jerry G, you are a first-rate friend and musician and about as feisty a man as the gods ever crafted, so I know you are rising to this incredible challenge with all your strength and determination. You showed it yesterday when I had to get the nurse to stop you from pulling that darn tube out – that’s our Jerry, scrapper extraordinaire!!

I love you, bud. Looking forward to arguing over movies, getting the chords just right and ordering extra anchovies on our rehearsal pizzas just as soon as we can!

Terrible, terrible news, however good to hear that things may be progressing positively. Naturally – love, support and prayers for all – and while support is always a one-minute drive away from some of the family, we offer it here as well to simply remind…

    God bless.

I only recently heard about Jerry’s fall, and also getting up to speed on his progress. Jerry, you are in my thoughts and prayers. Just reminiscing about you, Linda and myself sitting on a patio on the Danforth- all three of us trading songs and laughter. We’ve got to get you a pick and a mandolin into your hands STAT!

I am a very good friend of Abby’s and played with Jerry on TRH’s first album. I just wanted you to know that my thoughts and prayers are going out to all of you. Keep yourselves well and I’m sure that with all the love that surrounds him Jerry will be his old self very soon.

I’m sending as much positive energy out your way as I can muster! I’m thinking about you and I know that everyday you’ll see improvements. Take care of yourselves, and sooner rather than later life will be back to normal. Jerry can do nothing but get better when he’s got so much love around him.

Hi Jerry and all his friends and family!

It is Tuesday and I just wanted you all to know that you have someone thinking of you across the border to the south. Today is a good day as it is a balmy 50* here in New York state – the kind of day in November we northeasterners are thankful for!

Dear Jerry, Linda, Colin, Sarah, and families:

I have been meaning to send a message but have been (oddly) at a loss for words. I want you to know that I think of Jerry and the family often, and am sending my best wishes, thoughts and prayers to you all.

Through his work with Two Roads Home, Jerry and I have been musical colleagues, but have also become friends. He is a wonderful person, and a top-notch musician. I look forward to hearing his sweet mandolin and witty comments before too long!

I have had many inquiries from friends who have seen Jerry perform in Durham Region, asking how he is progressing. There are many people pulling for him! Thank-you Colin, for the weblog – the updates on Jerry’s situation are much appreciated.

    With love to all,
    Bryan

    Dearest Linda

I did send a message before, but it didn’t show up. I must have done something wrong. You are so very much in my thoughts and prayers, Linda (and both families). I’m telling everyone who knows you and Jerry, so they can send more goodwill and prayers flowing your way. Rose and I are working on trying to get down to see you for a short visit and to give you some hugs. If Rose can make it for this Sunday, I’ll contact you via the other gmail address to set up a time. Take care.

I am thinking of you often and pray for your recovery. I think of the bright days of Renfest where I would spend my time off listening to you. Both of you are such passionate artists wonderful to listen to and watch. You enrich our lives with music, poetry and humour.
Sending you all my positive energy, Eva

Just back from the west coast. Horrified to hear that my fave mando player is hurting. I’m in and out of town for a while, but please let me know if there will be a benefit – I will play bagpipes relentlessly until people donate – “If you don’t give, he won’t stop!” The horror …

This really sucks. Jerry was such a fine guy and the BEST celtic mandolin player I ever heard. Linda, Colin and Sarah, I’m sorry for all the pain this brings you. Please let me know if there’s anything I can do.

    Sincerely,

    Aaron Solomon

Aaron just told me the news and I also feel at a loss for words. It is a real shock and hard to fathom. Jerry will be missed and remembered by many folks. His music (especially his mandolin… he was a mighty monster on it) will stay with us always. You have my deepest sympathy.

  41. 41 Bryan Perry November 13, 2006 at 11:30 pm

    Dear Linda and Family:
I was very sad to hear of Jerry’s passing and wanted to send our regards and condolences. I only had the pleasure of meeting and playing music with Jerry this summer at the Pirate Festival at Fort York. He was a wonderful person to meet and get to know over the 3 weeks we played together. On the last weekend of the festival I manage to catch a few of the sessions on my digital recording system and Jerry shines on several tunes. I have posted one “Old Maui” as a tribute to him on our web page at http://www.ceolcara.com/news.htm . I’m sure there are many people who’s lives he touched and graced with his beautiful music and unasuming personality who will agree that this world was a little better place because of him.
    God bless

Jerry was one of my first running partners in the Toronto Penguins Running Club. He made me run my first 10km at a very fast pace, I was just a beginner but he stuck by me to make sure I didn’t get lost and kept me smiling with his conversations even though I was panting just to keep up with him. I really enjoyed running with Jerry and I always think of him whenever I run in the Don Valley Trails. My thoughts and prayers are with Jerry and his entire family at this difficult time.

  43. 43 Barbara Dallaire November 21, 2006 at 11:24 pm

I have been a friend of Linda Dale for several years; she started as my guitar instructor and quickly became a great and close friend. I watched as her life became filled with light and joy after Jerry became a part of her life – the wonderful connection they had as two big, beautiful hearts reached out to one another. Their musical talents became something magical when brought together; they felt the same way about music and they had such fun practicing together, trying new things and encouraging one another. I became blessed to not only have Linda as a close friend, but Jerry as well.

Jerry, you will be missed so much by me and so many others whose life you’ve touched, and there were many, as I saw at your funeral service. Friends with hearts as big as yours, and many rich with the musical gifts like those you were blessed with. Jerry, I promise to be there for Linda and help her through the tragedy of your passing.

My condolences to Linda and her family, as well as to Jerry’s family. May God bless and be with you.

    Barbara Dallaire

I was lucky enough to be entertained by Two Roads Home a few times and enjoyed Jerry’s musical talents. I would like to leave this poem that was just sent to me.

    Dancing With God

When I meditated on the word Guidance,

I kept seeing “dance” at the end of the word.

I remember reading that doing God’s will is a lot like dancing.

When two people try to lead, nothing feels right.

The movement doesn’t flow with the music,

and everything is quite uncomfortable and jerky.

When one person realizes that, and lets the other lead,

both bodies begin to flow with the music.

One gives gentle cues, perhaps with a nudge to the back

or by pressing Lightly in one direction or another.

It’s as if two become one body, moving beautifully.

    The dance takes surrender, willingness,

    and attentiveness from one person

and gentle guidance and skill from the other.

My eyes drew back to the word Guidance.

When I saw “G: I thought of God, followed by “u” and “i”.

    “God, “u” and “i” dance.”

    God, you, and I dance.

As I lowered my head, I became willing to trust

that I would get guidance about my life.

Once again, I became willing to let God lead.

My prayer for you today is that God’s blessings

and mercies be upon you on this day and everyday.

May you abide in God as God

    abides in you.

Dance together with God, trusting God to lead

and to guide you through each season of your life.

This prayer is powerful and there is nothing attached.

If God has done anything for

    you in your life,

please share this message with someone else,

for prayer is one of the best gifts we can receive.

    There is no cost but a lot of rewards;

so let’s continue to pray for one another.

    And I Hope You Dance

My husband and I live near Woodbine station where Jerry often played on a Friday morning. Every Friday there he was, bouncing along with a great ‘look’ on his face, half smile, half concentration. He always cheered me up. When we decided to get married, I said to my husband that we must have the ‘guy from Woodbine station’ play for us. Jerry agreed and played as the guests entered. He was amazing and I enjoyed hearing him from the dressing room. Jerry is a lovely man and I am so glad to have met him. I am so sorry for your loss. The world will me much less brighter for him leaving but I am sure he is somewhere bouncing along playing a tune.

All of my love and admiration for such an brilliant man.

    Vanessa and Christopher Armstrong.

  46. 46 Glenn (Toronto Penguin) December 31, 2006 at 7:31 pm

I met Jerry when he started running with us at Taylor Creek Park a couple of years ago. He was much faster than I was, which meant we never ran together. Except once. One summer day, I was running really well and caught up to Jerry. As usual, he was flying :-) It was great to finally run alongside each other.

I’ll miss him and the whole Toronto Penguins Running Club will miss him. Thoughts and prayers for Jerry and his family.
